***Editor's Note - This page is a hodge podge of other pages to which I may have linked something in the journal pages. They are in no particular order other than the one in which I pulled them off my hard drive to combine them. I do give a brief explanation of each item. Each new page is separated by a generic hard line return.***The following was actually linked from the Mall message. The message was deleted to no great surprise of mine.
This is the story of the Reverse Xmas Tree as I know it. I don’t know what the mall checker in question here has been saying.
A while back in the CVN Weekly News, Deanna Troi wrote asking for the sharing of holiday customs from other countries. Yes, I did take some of that to heart, surprising as that may sound to those of you who know me well. I wrote about it, which was mentioned in the CVN Weekly. I went further and decided to create some of my other customs
I uploaded an object and called it Polish xmas tree. Included with my upload was the thumbnail of the object that read “Polish Christmas Tree. Hang from Ceiling” along with the price and amount created. The mall checker in 3D World rejected the item with the message that it was an ethnic joke which was against 3D World’s constitution. She suggested that I change the name to something like “Upside down tree.” So I did. I changed the name of the object to Reverse Xmas Tree. I also changed the thumbnail to look like this:
This is the only picture
I left in this revision of my journals
I responded to the mall checker and said that I would change the name of the object. I also wrote: “It is NOT an ethnic joke. It IS a Polish custom to hang the tree from the ceiling.” I did not make an issue it. I was merely passing on information as best I could to a person whom I thought was ignorant of the antediluvian custom of hanging Christmas trees from the ceiling. People who are ignorant of the facts always assume things about us Poles. Then I uploaded the object again. I did not get another rejection notice.
When I checked the Mall message board on Monday, this message appeared:
Date: Sun, Nov 25 th, 2001. 8:33:48 pm.From: lenire
Subject: Checked
7 checkedReverse Xmas tree(25);Sleepy Set(950);Wizzard Harley(3000);A Harley Xmas(1000);Sword of
Truth(1000);Rover216SSportsRed(3000)Nanner nanner(50) by lenire
All the rest, well ya know
According to the information board in the mall, both Harley’s, the
Sword of Truth, and nanner nanner have been dropped. Thus that means
that items checked by lenire are acceptable. I have thus been waiting
for the Reverse Xmas Tree to be dropped.
Last night when I was in the chat room for the mall, somebody informed me that the mall checker who first rejected the item was working behind the scenes to have the item deleted or something like because to her it was an ethnic joke. I was told that she was talking to security about it. I don't know the veracity of those claims. I do know that the item was accepted by lenire, and that the item has not as yet been dropped.
Please note that this mall checker, other than the first rejection notice, after which I did change the name of the object and the thumbnail of the object as was suggested, has NOT contacted me after I uploaded the item again. I have not been contacted by security. Another mall checker accepted the item. I have NOT received a second rejection notice at all.
Yet, here is another example of political correctness gone berserk!
I’m Polish. I’m proud of my Polish heritage. My grandparents on my dad’s side came over here in the early 1900’s. My great grandparents on my mom’s side came over in the late 1800’s. My Dad spoke and wrote fluent Polish. I do speak a little, very little. Nie mowimu po polsku is about the extent of it along with a few other choice phrases that I gloriously slaughter off my tongue.
The Polish people have given the world the authors Joseph Conrad and Henryk Sienkiewicz. Poland has given the world Nobel laureates in literature and science. Poland has given the world Chopin and Copernicus. Poland gave the world freedom when Lech Walesa’s Solidarity Union (Solidarnosz) rebelled against the communist rule in Poland and brought about free elections. It was Poland far more than anything Ronald Reagan ever did that brought down the Iron Curtain. It was Poland in the 700’s that welcomed Jews into their country when every other nation in Europe at the time rejected that race of people.
And yes, Poland was part of that central European bunch of people that started hanging Christmas trees from the ceiling. These are two sites that mention the custom of hanging trees from the ceiling.
http://www.christmasarchives.com/trees.html
http://ks.essortment.com/historychristma_rfra.htm
Now you can go to these sites and read for yourself. You can think all you want that I am making fun of my own heritage. But I am not. Rather it is those people such as the mall checker in question here that are perpetrating a denigration of Poles by injecting their own misguided morals into what I have created.
Reject an item because it is too large. Reject it because it's not placed properly on the floor. Reject because of copyright issues. reject for any number of reasons. But don't gimme this claptrap that I can't in my own way honor my own heritage.
How dare such people accuse me of making callous ethnic jokes. It is they who are the self-righteous bigots.
This was written just before I shut the journal down. It was never actually posted anywhere.
March 31 -- today is Easter, a day for renewal of faith and the rejection of things that conflict with that faith.
Those of you in ctexploits who are reading this, I pissed you off. I am not going to get into a pissing contest with any of you. I suspect I know some of you from ct, and some others, I don't know at all. I am nobody's lackey and don't need to be dictated or lectured to. Suffice it to say, that yes I said some harsh things. Yes, I lumped several people all together when I called you idiots and assholes. I probably shouldn't have done that in retrospect, but I did. There's no taking it back. If you want an apology, fine. Here's your apology. If you want me to understand where you're coming from, fine. That's why I ask for proof, which some of you have provided via email and postings on your forum.
I would ask you something, but then that would imply that I expect an answer. Who knows? Maybe I do. If I lumped you all together, how is that any different from you lumping every user in ct together? I called you idiots and assholes. You have done the same to me. You have also done the same to every person you despise in ct, and a lot worse denigration to be honest. They probably don't like it any more or less than you did,or do.
I was going to propose some things for reform in 3d World, but never got around to thinking it thorugh and finishing it.
Proposals for Real CT Reform
1. Set the limit for number of objects allowed in a residence to no more than 75, preferably even lower. Enforce this by eliminating the software glitch that everyone is aware of which allows people to move at will and carry more objects than the currently allotted 32. If people are capable of coming up witht he sytem to allow people to have these objects, move, and basically do everything else in CT, they damn well should be capable of fixing a simple error.
2. Fix the server problems that cause Internet Explorer to boot up to a new login screen everytime you change windows. Fix other server problems quickly and efficiently as soon as the owners of the system become aware of them.
3.
This was the page announcing that I was approaching the 10000 home viisited
WIN WIN WIN WIN
I'm changing the rules, so sue me. The last fifteen homes will be selected as follows: I will start in one colony, one neighborhood, one block, one house. Then I will head the next colony, hood, block, house, etc. until the 10000th home is reached. All this is done in as random as I can make it by picking a place outta an old hat I got resting next to me. I am also ipping the ante a bit here at the end to 5000 for each person in the 14 houses up to the Grand Prize Winner. The Grand Prize is upped to 200,000 or 100,000 if the person is not home.
15 VISITS FROM NOW I will have reached 10000 homes visited in 3d World, not that the power structure really gives a rat's patoot. Still, I thought I'd commemorate the 10000th visit with a reward even if they don't. So here is your chance to win some of that precious fake money. It won't be easy, but what the hell. It will be a lot easier than trying to pay 500000 cc's of fake money for a fake object, particularly if it's nothing more than a picture on a box. But if you really want to pay that much money for something, maybe this will get you started.
Your chance to win, and the amount you win is based on one thing and one thing only, pure unadulterated luck. There is no skill involved in this whatsoever. This is how this will work. If you don't like it, tough.
I will begin the Trek Toward 10000 on Monday, February 28. I will pick a colony out of hat. I will pick a neighborhood out of that colony, again out of a hat. I will visit one block in that neighborhood, again picked out of a hat. I promise that I will shake up the names of the colonies, neighborhoods, and blocks each time I pick. After I get done visiting that block, I'll choose a different colony, neighborhood and block in the same way. I will continue in this fashion until the 10000th home is reached. This may mean that I visit a block that I have already visited before. It may also mean that I may not get to all the colonies, simply because I don't know how many homes are in any given block.
This is how you can win:
1. If the owner of the 10000th home is present when I visit, and, no, bots don't count, I will give the owner 100000 cc's.
2. If the owner is not home, I will leave an inbox to which the owner must respond within five days. If the owner responds, he or she will receive 50,000 cc.
3. In an effort to boost the pitiful .221 batting average of the response rate of 3d World people, and to help some people actually start affording those price gouged objects, each person responding to a visit will receive 1000 cc's IF and only IF their experience points are listed as 150 or less when I visit them.
4. Some people prefer privacy in their houses. Fine. If I visit your house and you don't have chat, you are not eligible for any prize.
5. Some people change their house and the glitches of 3d World eliminates their inbox. Oh well. Some people fiddle around with their inboxes and screw it up so bad that nothing can be posted. If I visit your house and your inbox isn't working or is unavailable, you are not eligible for a prize.
6. If the owner of the 10000th home is not home or does not respond, I keep my fake money and maybe I'll buy one of those damn pictures on a box after all.
That's about it. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. This contest is not approved, nor sanctioned by any licensing body. If you don't like the rules, like I said above. Tough. Take it up with Herhoner and the City Council. By the time they take any action on something, this will be long over. If you have any questions, don't ask. These rules explain it all. If you have any complaints, don't we all? Somebody might mention that I had originally thought of having people guess the time and date of my 10000th visit. Well I changed my mind plain and simple.
This was the announcement of the winner of the 10000th home. I still have nod seen hide nor hair of this person. If you do, let me know and I might sneak back in to ct under the beowulf name and give them some money. But then again I might not.
Anybody know this person:
Lexxxxx
Of Sci-fi colony, technology neighborhood, pathfinder block?
If so, tell
Lexxxxx
to hurry up and read the inbox, cuz he/she just won a bunch of fake money for being the 10000th home!
This I posted after the threat of legal action from a security officer at the time. This is also, supposedly the same person who banned WEBBUM for what amounted to be, to me, trumped up claims. It is typical, I think, of the way some people in 3d World think and behave. As you might have noticed from this and other entries, I haven't edited anything out except images.
Hwæt!
The previous Travels Pages were removed because of a threat of legal action by a member of the security team at the 3D World to which they referred. While I do not agree with their assessment, I do not have the financial wherewithal to take on a protracted legal battle.
My side of the story is as follows:
I posted a message on several of the public message boards available to users at 3D World. In these messages I provided a link to this site. These messages did not contain any profanity nor references to any person at 3D World. Some of the messages were deleted. I reposted the messages. Again they were deleted. I questioned the people responsible for the deletions. Their answers were confusing.
One message referred to strong language on this site and referenced a specific journal entry. Although I readily admit to using language here at this site which might be inappropriate at the other site, the journal entry in question used the world, "hell," once. Another message said that postings to the boards of 3D World could not link to this site. I posted these messages at 3D world with my comments about them, again, did not contain profanity or insults to any person. These, too, were deleted.
I received a third message from the security people at 3D world suggesting that I reread their rules and stuff. I did, and still did not see where I did anything wrong. I posted again to several of the public boards at this other site and did not include a link. These were not deleted, and I honestly thought the problem was resolved.
I then posted a notice and link on my site to a file on my site about being banned. In that file I quoted exactly what messages were sent to me. I have always been taught that a reporter provides fact, which I did. I did not want to paraphrase what was written by someone else and be accused of misstating their words. I have always been told to cite sources, to give credit where credit is due. So I quoted some people from 3D world. This evidently was too much.
Then I received a fourth message saying that I had violated the terms of agreement for 3D World, that I used the name of 3D World without permission, and that I had 48 hours to remove the pages or I would be referred to the 3D World's Legal department and that they would contact my web hosting provider.
As I said above, I do not have the financial resources. They do. Thus the original pages were removed and these replaced them. If you would like to read the previous journal entries, feel free to request them via email. I might have to edit some things out, though.
This was posted as a way to find some old objects that I had before my house got deleted for no real apparent reason.
Win 250,000 cc's
It ain't gonna be easy. What in life is?
Please read the August 3 journal entry to find out more about the history of this particular offer.
Briefly:
I used to have a house in Virtual Worlds/Metaverse/The Raft. For whatever, reason it was deleted.
Now each neighborhood and block has a different URL.
The URL's available for the Raft block begin with
http://www.cybertown.com/cgi-bin/cybertown/property?ID=0103040403020000
The URL's available for the Raft block end with http://www.cybertown.com/cgi-bin/cybertown/property?ID=0103040403029999
Now some of these are taken up by current residents of the block. But, I believe, my old house is somewhere there in the cyberspace of the block. More importantly, I believe my old objects are there as well.
So if you want to take the time and search through 9999 URL's and find my missing objects you can win 250,000 cc's.
Rules are simple.
1. YOU do the searching and finding.
2. I must be able to retrieve the objects
3. The first person to email me or inbox me wins the moohla.
4. Among the objects you would be looking for are:
Scottish Claymore (by hemlock)
Celtic Cross
Earth
Moon
Jupiter
Saturn
Suit ov Armor
Sword of Fire (by Jedi_Glee)
Sword of Lightning (by Jedi_Glee)
Chess Master 3000 (by Laz I think)
Excelsior by Paden
there was a total of 47 objects, but I'm an old fart and don't remember them all.
This entry was the result of somebody actually trying to find those objects.
Much congrats to BorgQueen drawing this conclusion. Alas, methinks
she is correct, but I still wonder if my ancient home and objects are floating
around somwhere in CT.
These are BorgQueen's words.
My Conclusion to Metaverse/ The Raft Properties:
The Raft starts with address: (Hood addy itself)
http://www.cybertown.com/cgi-bin/cybertown/property?ID=
0103040403020000
One could attempt to view 0103040403020001 through 0103040403020100
individually. Since its not on the 'grid' I found it to be pointless,
however I did randomly check the addresses in incriments of 10 IE:
0103040403020000, 0103040403020010, 0103040403020020 etc. All were
'Vacant'
not to my suprise.
There are no 'Grid Spots' untill you reach addy:

(First Spot/ First Row) - (Occupied)
This starts the grid consisting of 6 rows with each row containing 12
spots.

Borgie -aka- BorgQueen (Elder, Idiot, No Life, CO)
These were my nominations for the MOE awards. Interestingly enough, the person who won some MOE awards. Lazerous is permanently banned supposedly. Go figure.
I have been asked by the Mall Chief of 3d World to nominate several
objects for the MOE Awards. If you don't know what the MOE Awards
are you can click here.
If you want me to nominate your object for something please don't ask.
I ain't gonna play favorites. Don't care if you're my best friend,
a long lost relative, or my dead father's ghost. I am picking objects
I like to fit the categories given even if I think some of the combinations
are kind goofy. And I ain't nominating any goddam pictures on a box
for awards. Maybe if we had a Rubenesque painting of my kinda wimmen
folk, I'd consider it, but even then it's still apicture on a box and it
ain't very creative 3d work to me. I have my own tastes and I ain't
gonna nominate something jsut because I know the person. I have seen
a lot of objects in visiting nearly 10000 homes. Many of them are
by 3d artists never heard of by the people who hawk wares all over the
place for exaggerated and inflated prices So I have picked
some of the ones I like. You will notice that only a few of them
are by other nominators. I'm taking this thing seriously. This
ain't no damn popularity contest, and I sure as hell ain't out to win one
myself. In fact, I'd be very surprised if a single one of my objects
got nominated. I don't have any art background. If I draw a
person it's got stick figures. So I ain't expecting anything.
And I ain't pumping my fists in frustration about it. Those of you
who think that I should nominate somebody...tough! These are my picks
not yours. You don't have to agree with them, and I suspect many
of you won't. I have also included here in my picks the reasons I
picked them along with the 3d URL. This list is not complete yet,
but these have been forwarded to the judging committee whoever the hell
they are.
Best Appliance/Electronic Object
Computerw/working feat by (creator unnamed in thumbnail) - a computer has to do something other than just sit there and look like a computer and I always have a cup of coffee ready to spill on my own keyboard.http://www.cybertown.com/cgi-bin/cybertown/place?obj=3d&ac=print&tpl=object/3d&CAT=c00005e92&ID=o0021a9bc
Best Car Object
The Dark Roadster by CypressBlade - I have this car in my house. It's my style.
Best Carpet Object
Impressions by JosephDudule - Okay I was goingto nominate the original WHITE bear skin rug by Angel_is_a_Lady, but she won for her brown bear skin rug once before. I cam up with this one instead. It's not something I would put in my place but only because I ain't a rug kinda guy. I do, however, like what appears to be an original design and I like the dust catching fringe thingies at each end.http://www.cybertown.com/cgi-bin/cybertown/place?obj=3d&ac=print&tpl=object/3d&CAT=c00007339&ID=o00249152
Best Furniture/Bedroom/Office Object
Dragon Wine Chair by Blazerwiccan - nice design, nice texture, too.
Best Fine Art/Poster Object
Faeries "The Meeting" by J.O.T. (actually the whole series of statues) -- Hey I told you I ain't nominating any pictures on boxes. If you go to my club, Hwæt!, you can see the entire series or The Parting, The Kiss, The Hurt, and The Loss. They are fine sculpture indeed and a real example of 3d Art.
Best Garden/Aquatics Object
Ani Crying Rose by Katana_Blade -- the texture of the rose is worth the price of admission
Best Gift/Novelty/Toy Object
Anguish by Paden -- I had considered this for the fine art, but couldn't since I already nominated the Faeries Statues above. Still this is one of the finer things I have ever seen. It actually moved this crusty old fart.
Best Holiday Object
Huggy Valentinc's Card by Aleksander -- I was gonna nominate my Polish Christmas tree, but then I had to change the name to Reverse Christmas Tree because somebody didn't believe that it was actually a Polish and Eastern European custom to hang trees upside down. If you go to those two links, you'll notice the difference. But since I can't nominate myself for something, I figured go with something simple. If you do go to those links for the tree, you'll notice a discrepancy in the way the mall checker grades things. After she finally accepted the dang thing, she gave it an A after first giving it a B. Sheesh! Go figure. Hallmark runs most of the holidays anyways and I give this virtual card is as good as any of theirs and longer lasting, too. Besides, it's simple, and even a C object deserve recognition. Lazarus told me once that people need to see that sometimes creators need to see that even the simple things can be good.
Best Large Item Object
Victorian Bathroom by Tiffers -- Everyone has to use the john and you might as well enjoy the experience. About the only thing missing here is some reading material.
Best Kitchen Object
Breakfast Bar by inclinations -- I like the animation here and it looks cozy. Never thought I'd use that work to describe something, did ya?
Best Pet Object
Lanneret by Fire_Valkyrie -- There have been many fine pets made in 3d World. This one at least looks real enough.
Best Weapon/Space Object
Cattle Prod by Jedi_Glee -- Heck there are so many darn swords and guns and stuff floating around that it would be most diffiuclt to choose one. So I chose this instead. It's the original Cattle Prod. Not a cheap imitation. It's still the first defense line against all snerts. It's the first object that I know of that brought those high cc's by price gouging money grabbers. And it would be kinda cool if soembody one who hasn't been aroudn 3d World for a while. I know somebody who still has one, so I have to wait until I find the URLhttp://www.cybertown.com/cgi-bin/cybertown/place?obj=3d&ac=print&tpl=object/3d&CAT=c000011b1&ID=o000a8e37
Best Wedding/Jewlery Object
The Wedding Clock by Ski bunny -- some people think Ski-Bunny is the greatest creator these days. I disagree, but she did a nice job on this one. And it's not the usual Wedding object.
Best Animated Object
Steam Engine – creator unknown – URL unknown I have several people looking for the URL for this. I ran across it during my travels, and I remembered that I was extremely fascinated by it. Puffs of steam, turning wheels, driving pistons. Wow! If you see it, send me an inbox and I'll post the URL here.
Best Creator
Lazarus -- One Word: GREAT!
Best Design in an Object
Ani Grand Piano by Josephdudule -- Holy Moly! I really don't know what the hell best design in an object means. Does it mean something artsy fartsy, something pretty, something what? This is another great design at least. There have been other grand pianos, but this one is designed for you to play. If ever an object screamed for sound to be allowed in objects, this is the one. One question, though. All these combinations of stores these days, how the heck did it get in a rug shop? Huh? I was looking for a carpet to nominate dammit and ended up looking at this instead.http://www.cybertown.com/cgi-bin/cybertown/place?obj=3d&ac=print&tpl=object/3d&CAT=c000075bb&ID=o002525fe
Most Humorous Object
Skeleton Guard by TattooMan -- Reminds me of the skeleton soldiers in Jason and the Argonauts. I laughed at them, too.
Best Interaction in an Object
Chessmaster 3000 by Lazarus -- you find me another object in 3d that you can play with like this and maybe I'll vote for it, but I don't think you will.
Best Overall Object
Chessmaster 3000 by Lazarus -- If ever I was gonna spend an exhorbitantly high price for an object, this would be the one. This thing sold for 3000 cc of fake money when it came out in the mall two years ago. There ain't been nothing since actually worht that price. You people who are currently charging 1000cc or more as an original sales price, I'm sorry. You don't even come close to 3d quality until you do something like this game.
This entry is actually the minutes of a council meeting. I got into the habit of linking or copying such things after security started its Orwellian approach to the running of 3d World.
These are the Council Meeting Minutes which appeared in the 3d World
Daily news for the weekend of February 15-17.
CITY COUNCIL
MEETING MINUTES
A Cybertown City Council meeting was held on
Wednesday February 6th from 10 PM to 12:25 AM CyT
in the City Council Office.
Attendees: LadyLiz, diverDestiny, GORTz,
Talonn, myk7, Alexb. (proxy for Teens
Colony CL), JeetKunDo (proxy for Sci-fi
Colony), Karyll (proxy for Inner Realms
Colony), Delphine, Scorpion
Discussion: Public Town Meetings
A public town meeting was discussed whereby
a form at the new City Council website
could be filled out by citizens. Their
ideas for topics could be submitted and an open
town meeting would take place whereby
a committee composed of Council members
could do a review of the submissions.
Possibly an online database or some kind of
filter would be incorporated to organize
and view all of the submissions. Topics would
be chosen in advance and made public
through CVN prior to each meeting. This
would allow citizens to be invited to
speak and have time to prepare. These meetings
would take place monthly at the City
Hall or various locations.
It was also mentioned that people would
need to speak in an orderly fashion. This
would be accomplished by either using
a adaptation of Roberts Rules of Order (* and
?) and/or partial to full moderation
with an understanding that the behavior of the crowd
would dictate much of the order required.
There was some talk about possibly
moderating just specific portions of
the meeting. It may also be necessary to provide
security personnel at these meetings
to help maintain order.
There was also a brief discussion on
having a CVN Reporter at the public town
meetings for public coverage of the
event. But some where reluctant about this as
they would be preoccupied by the discussion
of a CVN Reporter being present in the
City Council meetings. Also, the Reporter
would need to be bound to the same rules
of Confidentiality as all attendees
or asked to excuse themselves during such
confidential discussions. Providing
the Minutes to the Reporter and letting them base
their story on those minutes should
be adequate for the needs of CVN.
Conclusions: The topic was concluded
by mentioning that open town meetings could
be a good stepping stone to the possibility
of developing an open council meeting
format in the future. There was concern
by a few Council Members that revealing
Council member’s votes, etc. could create
some possible backlash by disgruntled
citizens, or that a vote would be driven
by popularity rather than the best interest of
the City.
Action items: It was decided to continue
this topic via email and offer more in-depth
discussion on how to make these meetings
work.
Person responsible: City Council members
Deadline: TBD
Discussion: Confidentiality
There was discussion that some related
issues have come up concerning the release
of confidential information to the general
public. This issue has been previously
addressed in email discussion and was
reiterated at the meeting. There was some
discussion as to what was appropriate
to release to the general public. For example,
discussing with the general public how
someone cast their vote without prior approval
is not permitted.
It was also communicated that when people
find out about things, it does not
necessarily mean that they are being
spoon fed information. There are certain
members of the community who are extremely
talented in the area of gathering
information. They feed their own conclusions
to others and watch reaction, looking for
verification of their ideas, etc. There
was mention that members should not point
fingers at one another unjustifiably
or without fact.
Moreover, City Council members have all
signed confidentiality agreements when they
took these jobs when they were given
their special tools. It was said that each and
every [Council member] should have enough
integrity to stand by that agreement.
Conclusions: There was a general consensus of agreement over the topic discussed.
Action items: If it should come to light
that somebody is feeding information where it
should not belong, there will be no
excuse for such conduct and the result could be to
relieve them from their respective post.

Discussion: Honor Titles
There was much discussion that with the
recent events surrounding the awarding of
the award titles, the approval process,
and the organization of the event itself justified
a review of procedures.
The process that was used in evaluating applicants was:
1. CL's did initial review of applicants
and forwarded all names they felt met the
requirements.
2. Council reviewed and "red-flagged"
any names found questionable.
3. Red flagged individuals were asked
to petition council for their title to describe why
they felt they deserved it, what their
contributions had been, etc.
4. Only red-flagged names who had petitioned
were formally voted on by City Council.
5. Those approved via majority vote
were sent to Hawk for final determination.
There was some talk about establishing
a quota or ratio for each colony to limit the
number of candidates. Some felt that
was unfair as some colonies could have more
residents than others. Some felt that
some colonies may have many more qualified
citizens than others. Others felt establishing
some sort of quota and limiting the
number of candidates would restore respect
for those titles as fewer citizens would be
receiving them. There is currently a
similar problem with the lack of respect for the
over the abundance of Block Deputy and
Block Leader titles available.
It was mentioned that there was some
confusion as to the definition of "valuable
contribution" as intended by the Founders.
Therefore, the discussion proceeded with a
clarification of the term. One stated
that a “valuable contribution” is an active
involvement in Cybertown either by holding
a job in the colonies or places, by actively
participating in chats and discussions
on the boards, and showing a positive,
constructive, and helpful attitude.
Another one stated that “valuable contribution”
should be based on things that would
help out the city by not starting fights on the
message boards and trying to subdue
people from overstepping bounds. Also, other
things like being an active citizen
who most people would know about and have been
helped by them. And another one stated
that “valuable contribution” is to exceed
expectation, to do over and above the
call of duty in ones job, and/or by
accomplishing noteworthy projects. Several
agreed that “valuable contribution” should
include tangible and intangible but
obvious things. Some thought however that certain
contribution may turn into popularity
which is not what the titles are about.
There was also some conversation about
how to track certain contributions to society
for later evaluation of the awards.
Some mentioned going on an employer's
recommendation, provide reference to
message board postings, keep screens of
“noteworthy” postings, or even acquire
a poll of people that citizen’s feel stand out.
There was a thought that if it could
be filtered through employers before the Colony
Leaders, it would make things easier.
There were some brief comments made about
those with the award titles showing
poor conduct in the chats rooms. A statement
was made about putting a mechanism
in place by which awards are removed
if abused.
Also were brief comments made about the
respective Colony Leaders reading out the
names of those in their respective colonies
who have been awarded the titles at the
ceremonies. Some felt this may help
facilitate the ceremonies better.
It was asked that even though the applications
request a list of contributions, if
everyone finds that most applicants
give enough detail to actually judge them? There
was a comment made that most do. Another
one mentioned that too many club
owners got Templar [titles] this round
and that they don’t think that only that job title
should define worthiness.
It was mentioned that there are a lot
of people who do their job and do it pretty well,
but few really stand out. As the titles
get higher (Templar, Wizard, etc.), the imaginary
bar should be raised. Also, contributions
past and present should be considered such
as contributions over the past year
for Elder titles, over the past two years (in total) for
Templar, etc.
“Byte This Club” ran by webbum is in
the process of coming up with suggestions for
handing out the award titles. A comment
was made to possibly await their proposal
for review in cooperation with them.
Conclusions: It was concluded that there
is always going to be some subjectivity
involved in assessing the contribution
of applicants, but there may be a need for a
standardized base of operations. A theory
was to set up a committee to do initial
evaluations, and then highly evaluated
names could be submitted to City Council for
decision. It was pointed out that this
base of operations must be in place well before
the next ceremony. CL's will still do
the initial screenings. The steps of this new base
of operations may be but not limited
to as follows:
1. Application received by CL.
2. CL (or designee) reviews application
to determine if minimum requirements are met
(i.e. immigration date, clean security
history, etc.).
3. Only those applications who have
met the requirements will be forwarded to
committee for review of "valuable contribution"
as defined.
4. Name placed in database for final
consideration and vote at time of next award
ceremony.
5. All names having met all requirements
throughout the preceding six month period
would be submitted to City Council by
the committee.
6. Applicant's CL or other council member
red-flags names of those known to have a
change in circumstance that may require
additional review.
7. Formal vote on all names by council
members.
8. Final approval by Hawk.
Action items: Further definition of the
term “valuable contribution” worked on through
email. Further discussion on what the
steps for the base of operations should include
via email.
Person responsible: City Council Members
Deadline: TBD
Discussion: Post Of Confidential Info on Council Board
Closed discussion.
Discussion: Use Of CC Office Voting Board
There was discussion on having the City
Council members use the vote board at the
City Council Office to handle formal
voting. The theory was that there would be less
email, votes would be a simple yes/no
(discussion having taken place via
meeting/email prior), and City Council
members from all time zones could easily go to
the office to vote. It was also mentioned
that sometimes the voting ends up running
into continued discussion and that could
be avoided by using the specific vote board
instead of using the email.
Further discussion closed.
Deadline: TBD
Special notes:
1. The subject of CVN Reporters at City
Council meetings to be tabled to future
agenda.
2. The Auto Park/Raceway proposal by
Lego-Man and EvilMax, presented by GORTz
on their behalf, is to be tabled to
the next meeting or to email.
OOOPS! I forgot this entry in the original entries. I'm not sure why other than because it was named something else rather than a date for the journal. I left in some of the pictures because, well, they help make the point of this piece
November 23
A trek over to Virtual Worlds, Point World revealed a strange little neighborhood of 42 homes called Point World Founders. I don't know if this means that these people helped found Point World or 3D World. It is interesting, however, that nearly all of the people in this neighborhood enlisted in 3D World around the same time as the supposed illustrious Founder in Abstentia, Hawk. Now, did he get these people to volunteer, twist their arms, or what? Beats the hell outta me.
Point World is the residence of the former Hizzoner, FlyBy, who I at least I know it active in 3d World since he did respond to my visit.
He doesn't have nearly as many experience points as the Invisible One, but I do like the fact that he obviously updated his page after the terrorist attack of 911.
A screen shot or image was deleted here
For some reason or other I don't think too many of the residents of Point World Founders will be responding to my visit. I'd say that 75 percent of them haven't been in 3d World for a long time. I'm not looking for a Prince Charming and I am not sure what Snybbie is trying to force down her throat ( get your mind outta the gutters, you perverts).

I don't think I want that Jestor guy anywhere near me. Talk about a mug shot! Pegasus is cute, but I'm a happily married guy. And SomeDamnFool somehow got his nickname by the politically correct censors way back when. Maybe I should start referring to the powers that be in 3d World as Some Damn Fools. Is Mr. Dog any relation to Mr. Bill from the old Saturday Night Live routine?

Flyby and very few others are the exception here in this neighborhood. Just look at the experience points here. You get that many for just showing up in less than a month. No job, no selling stuff in the flea market, no making objects, no nothing. Look at these two:
Seriously, when the hell was the last time these people were in 3d World? Now I really don't give a rat's ass if they keep them or not, but why did my house get deleted when I didn't come to 3d World for a couple of months and these people obviously haven't been back in years for chrissakes?!? Where's the damn consistency in this?
The Same Damn Fools who run the place don't answer maybe because they have no answer. Or maybe their answer just won't make any sense.
I had this linked on the original page. A lot of people charge a lot of fake money and make a lot of fake money making and/or selling this stuff. I am posting some of the objects I have made with the purpose of making a point later. Look for it in the new journal.
Where are my 3D objects, you are wondering? Okay, I've done some in the past. I've made some fake money off them in the past. I recently started doing some more and will upload them and hopefulyl make some more fake money. But, I am not an egotistical sycophant running around the mall bothering the mall staff about the whereabouts of my objects, what grade they got, when they will be dropped, or any other of teh number of petty complaints that some people have about the way the mall is or isn't run.
My philosophy of making objects, is simple. I make stuff I would want. I ain't into fancy, schmancy stuff that much. I try to have fun doing it. I charge by however long it takes me to make something. Making a picture and slappign it on a 3d box, to me, is not very creative at all, and I ain't gonna charge a lot for it. Soemthing that takes me a couple of days to get done, I'll charge more for.
But, as I said above, I am not egotistical about me objects. I mean, it ain't like this is a real productive skill that engenders millions of real dollars in the real world.
So, if you want to see my objects, you'll have to look for them in 3D World. I hope you like them. If you like them, buy them.
