When pro golfers see Arnold Palmer, they should probably
walk up, shake his hand, and thank him. Probably more than any other golfer,
Arnie captured the imagination of fans and started a golf boon in this
country and around the world. With Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, Arnie
brought fans and players to the game just as Tiger Woods is supposedly
doing today. His followers were called Arnie's Army, and he was the general.
All it took was one hitch on his pants, and they were ready for another
charge. Arnie gets numerous requests for autographs according to his secretary,
and though we could not get an original for every participant in The Cragin,
the one he did send was great nonetheless.
